Grandpa's Inn. Vigan.

When we booked Grandpa's Inn weeks before our trip to Vigan, Jingjing and I were very excited about staying in this happy yellow-painted house turned B&B. We browsed through their website and everything looked so pretty. When we got there, we were so thrilled and fascinated at how pretty indeed everything was.

Because I love all things old (especially those with stories in them), I really liked how all those vintage things were strategically decorated all over the house. It reminded me so much of my grandparents' home and my childhood, so staying there was like going to a familiar, safe place. Every nook was thoughtfully decorated and every space looked homey and cozy.

But our disappointment came when we requested for a late check-out. We arrived in Vigan at night from Laoag, so upon check-in, we asked if we could have a late check-out the following day. They turned us down. I was personally quite disappointed. I've stayed in many hotels and inns before, and all of them have been very considerate. Many service-oriented establishments aim to please their clients after all.

When we checked out the following day, the girl at the counter asked if we were going to extend our stay.

Girl at the counter: Mag-extend po ba kayo?
Me: Actually, we asked for a late check-out yesterday, but our request was declined.
Girl: Ay, hindi po kasi pwede, may naka-reserve na po sa room nyo.
Me: So why are you asking if we were going to extend in the first place?
Girl: Meron po kasing charge per hour.

So there. You make your own conclusion. LOL. I think, they should be a little bit considerate since we arrived at night and it's lean season. That's just me, of course.

Other than this incident (and our room not having any sink), Grandpa's Inn is a pretty nice place to stay when in Vigan. The staff are friendly, the place is quite charming. It is just a stone's throw away from Calle Crisologo. It is also a short walk to Leila's Cafe and to the town center. Just make sure you have a sink in your room when you make your reservation.

Room Rates
Range: Php 980 (fan room for 2) - Php2,680 (aircon room for 4)
