My dear friend Shadie turned a year older last Thursday. Since she's based in Jakarta and even though we couldn't be with her, Edeena and I celebrated her birthday with pasta, pizza, and dessert at Cafe 1771.
We ordered mushroom and smoked salmon pizza (Php440), spaghetti with sardines and fried capers (Php290), and coffee pie (Php185) and valrhona chocolate ganache tart (Php225). We found the food a bit bland, E and I had to sprinkle both pizza and pasta with salt and pepper. Still, we loved what we ordered. They also served us complimentary buttered popcorn while we waited for our food.
We absolutely adored the coffee pie. It was soft and buttery with hints of caramel. Loved the valrhona chocolate ganache tart which had deep, rich flavor and is a must-try for all chocolate lovers. Their coffee had our seal of approval, too.
It was a night of good conversation. I always enjoy E's company. And we both love celebrating the lives of those who are dear to us.
Thank you, E!

I totally love the interiors of Cafe 1771 -- whimsical, charming, and cozy. The restaurant, I learned, is divided into three sections: The Lounge, The Whimsy, and The Wine Bar. We stayed at The Whimsy where we were surrounded by whites and blues and deep pinks. The high-back chairs were very comfortable. Everything was well-thought out, even the ladies' room was lovely.
Next time, I will try dining at The Lounge. It has quaint library look with beautiful sofas and chairs and walls filled with leather-bound books. I would also love to try their organic chicken in potato crust. I heard it is yum. :)
PS. Forgive the small photos. All taken from my phone.
