My friend Jane was here in Manila yesterday to take her certification exams at the Ateneo Business School (which she passed, of course). Prior to this exam, she was here for straight two weeks for her classes, but I wasn't able to see her. I was down with flu and had to stay home. But I'm better now, so we met up yesterday for dinner and dessert.
She wanted some pasta, so I decided to take her to Marciano's.
The first time I tried Marciano's was when I met up with a couple whose wedding I covered in Tagaytay last year.

Jane and I had Donnie Brasco Calamari for starters. The calamari batter tasted so much like pancake. I expected it would be crispy, but it was too thick and soggy. Still, Jane and I both liked it although I think that my Mom's calamari tastes better. :)

Jane was craving for pasta, so she ordered Serendipity Seafood Marinara, which was absolutely delicious. I particularly loved the smokey, salty, garlicky flavors that were all mixed into one awesome dish. The seafood was fresh and there was enough shrimps, mussels, squid, and slices of olives.

And since I have been craving for pizza for the longest time, I ordered West Side 4 Season Pizza -- a combination of four pizza flavors (because we didn't know what pizza flavor to order). What I really liked about their pizza was their crispy thin crust!
The entree here pays homage to Hollywood. Dishes are named after Hollywood stars and characters. Pizzas, for example, are named: Adam Sandler Four Cheese, Seinfeld Pepperoni, When Harry Met Sally, etc. And pastas are named Kate and Leopold Parmigiana, Legally Blond, Tony Soprano's Seafood and Pesto, etc.
Price Range: Php300-500/meal
Note: Serving size is big.
They also serve salads, seafood, and steaks.

The interiors are tastefully decorated in red, silver, and black. It feels very rich and elegant (and maybe intimidating to some). The open ceiling is covered with lighted photos of Hollywood movies and stars. Beautiful chandeliers also hang on the right side of the resto. Really nice ambiance.
The service was fast. However, their staff was not very friendly. I didn't see anyone smile at all. Then again, we did not go there to make friends, did we? Haha.

Overall, Jane and I loved our food. We ended the day with coffee (for her) and gelato (for me) and continued our conversation at Caffe Ti-Amo. We talked mostly about life, love, and work. And then we'd burst into laughter in between.
It was such an enjoyable day. I always look forward to spending time with Jane. She's such a delight to be around.
