Our first meal in Legaspi was in 1st Colonial Grill. We were starving from our long journey from Donsol, so after dropping off our bags in our hotel room, we went to look for some delicious food. Since my friend E read about 1st Colonial Grill and their famous sili ice cream, we decided to have lunch there. We had pinangat, lechon kawali, and plain rice.
The pinangat was okay. I personally liked it. We found the lechon kawali quite bland though. We were halfway through our meal when we realized we weren't very happy with it.

So we ordered this tinapa fried rice -- a delicious mix of fried rice, tinapa, itlog maalat, green mangoes, and tomatoes. It was tasty, hearty, garlicky, and it certainly added some magic into our meal.
Many people would say that if you're not happy with something, change it. In this case, order more food! :) Ah, you should see how much ice cream E and I consumed that day!
Service in 1st Colonial Grill needs a lot of improvement and perhaps, staff training. Other than that though, this restaurant is a must-try when in Legaspi.

Yuuuum, this makes me crave for lechon kawali. Comfort food makes me happy although it's bad for my cholesterol.

ReplyDeleteBel: Isn't it sad how all the yummy stuff are not good for our health? :D
ReplyDeleteAwesome photography you have! :)
Chelo: Thank you. Ah, yes. I know temptations. LOL.
ReplyDeleteE: Let's do this again! :D
ReplyDeletePinkcookies: Truly yum! (well, except for the lechon kawali. haha).
ReplyDeletePatricia: Hahaha! I cannot imagine you drooling! :D
ReplyDeleteOur pharmacy is right beside Colonial Grill's building so I get to eat there a lot whenever I go home from Manila (studying in Manila). My comment is food here ranges from okay to delicious. The service DOES need improvement, though. And the buko juice in a shell is not even cold so it's not as delicious as it should be.
ReplyDeleteJohn: I think that's really a fair review. I agree with you. :)
