E read an article about Sili ice cream while we were in Donsol and that got us really excited to try it. When we arrived in Legaspi just before noon, and after checking in at our hotel, we headed off to lunch. It was quite perfect that 1st Colonial Grill, home of the Sili ice cream, is located on the ground floor of Villa Amada Hotel where we were staying.
The Bicol region is known to use Siling Labuyo (bird's eye chili) in most of their dishes, so I guess, there's no better place to try a chili flavored ice cream than here.
This ice cream looks like strawberry ice cream except that it is garnished with red and green chili on top. It tastes innocently sweet. But then, as soon as it melts in your mouth, hot chili flavor explodes in your mouth. Disturbing at first, but the explosions of hot chili spice becomes a really nice surprise at every spoonful.

Two other must-try flavors are the Tinutong and Pili. Both these flavors are really delicious and creamy. Tinutong (burnt/toasted rice) has this toasted/smokey taste that's an absolute pleasant surprise. The Pili is really good, too - milky and nutty. :D
A serving of three small scoops: Php79.
