Marky and I stayed at this colorful little place called Stops Hostel, a house converted into a backpackers hostel. Homey, clean, and tastefully decorated, I instantly knew we'd love this place. The service was awesome, too! The owners and staff were wonderful -- they answered all our questions, gave us travel/food tips, and helped us with our Jaipur itinerary. I loved the service, the breakfast, and the charming little nooks. Our original plan was to stay overnight in Varanasi, but because we loved this hostel so much, we extended our stay.
After being a bit stressed out about the cleanliness (the lack of it, that is) of our hostel in Kolkata (haha), staying here was a welcome treat.
Many hostels and hotels in Varanasi are located along the riverbank/ghats (where all the activities are), but I totally love that Stops Hostel is located away from all the crowd and noise. Their location is just perfect -- it is in a quiet community, away from the crowd, but it's just about 5 minutes away by rickshaw to the Assi Ghat.
Stops Hostel. The facade.
The stairs leading to the rooms, dining area, living area.
The walls are filled with frames where tourists could sign or leave a short message.
The living area.
The dining area. There's a huge television here.
Just outside the dining area is this lovely space on the terrace.
The weather was beautiful when we were in Varanasi, so I had my breakfast here every morning.
A lot of travelers also hang out here to talk or work.
One of the charming little nooks.
This is our room. It could fit in 8 people. Has AC and en-suite bath.
Each bed has a fan and electric outlet for charging gadgets.
Stops also has rooms for two with en-suite bath.
The biggest dorm could fit 16 people (no AC but with individual fan, shared toilet & bath).
Oh, I miss this room!
